Making brownies from scratch is one of the easiest, yet most rewarding things you can do in the kitchen. It is just as easy as making brownies from a box mix but it tastes so much better.
For the recipe I use, you will need:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
To get started, you will want to melt the butter and add the sugar.
Once that is mixed together, add your eggs.
When the eggs are added and you have a smooth mixture, add the vanilla and cocoa powder.
Your mixture should still be a bit runny. So now you add the flour.
When you are done, you should have a silky-smooth, chocolaty batter. Pour it into your buttered and floured pan and bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes. This brownie will RISE, so make sure not to over-fill your pan (Like I did).
make sure you start checking your brownie early, so you don’t overbake it. It’s done when the toothpick comes out clean. You will want to let it rest for about 10 minutes on the counter before cutting into it. This allows the brownie to set so it doesn’t ooze all over when you remove your slice.
The result is a gooey, rich brownie that is SO much better than boxed.
